First aid first.
I received a little reminder last week, that healing always needs to start at the beginning.
I was taken back in a couple of different experiences within a couple of days, to where I started with all of this and a little nudge came through.
There are so many chapters to this Little Wildflower story now, so many layers that have evolved into an approach, a way of being and supporting healing in others. The whole story is far too big to tell now (I’m starting to accept that it’s also not necessary to tell) so the snippets I share here have focussed in closer and closer over time.
The new bits are always so exciting and powerful, sharing as it all evolves has become second nature to me and those of you who have been here all along, following closely, might have had a chance to follow from one step to the next. There’s a chance it might all make sense to you as I add in each new piece of the puzzle.
For those of you who are new here or only look in now and then, I’ve been reminded that I need to remind you what the beginning looks like. That we always start at the beginning, even though I and my long time followers might be delving deeper and uncovering exciting new possibilities for healing and growth.
We always start at the beginning. We always start where you are.
By recognising a nervous system stuck in survival mode and patterns formed within that survival mode.
By acknowledging how survival mode has helped you to do just that, to survive, while you have been under chronic, elevated levels of stress, holding up all of the hard stuff for your family.
By gently questioning whether that survival mode can sustain you for much longer and if you could consider, see and want another way.
It’s always about first aid before we start lifting layers or unravelling patterns.
We always start with the experience of being heard, building safety, connection and the capacity in you and your nervous system to be able to sit with the hard stuff that we might find when we go deeper.
Nervous system first aid is about safety and space.
Just like we can’t treat heart disease effectively if CPR isn’t administered during the heart attack.
Like it’s much harder to repair a broken leg if it hasn’t been immobilised and splinted en route to the hospital.
Like a wound won’t heal neatly if the bleeding isn’t stopped quickly and the edges closed together.
We can’t heal a nervous system without first finding safety and space. The first aid creates the environment needed for the healing.
I’m currently adding the the collection of Little Wildflowers ebooks. This new guide will give you the prompts you need to get started on your own, to get an idea of what’s required and what’s possible. It will get you to the point of being ready and able to reach out for support to move past ‘first aid’ and onto your unique path to healing you, your Little Wildflower and your whole family.
